NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling: Tsuji retains as Kenny Omega lays down a challenge

[Voyager17]

New Japan's King of Pro-Wrestling drew 6,422 fans to Ryogoku Kokugikan, and POST Wrestling's Jack Wannan has the full results. In the main event, Yota Tsuji beat G1 winner Ryohei Oiwa in 35:07 to retain the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. The Tokyo crowd was strongly behind Oiwa, but they cheered Tsuji during the post match segment

The undercard was packed with title matches. Gabe Kidd beat Shota Umino in 22:25 to keep the IWGP Global title, finishing with a Second Chapter Fisherman Buster. YOH retained the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title against Robbie Eagles with a roll up in 13:02. Aaron Wolf beat Kosei Fujita to win the NEVER Openweight title

OSKAR, Yuto-Ice and Jeff Cobb won the NEVER Six Man titles from Will Ospreay, HENARE and Great-O-Khan in 17:26. Afterwards Ospreay asked for an IWGP Tag title match against the Knockout Brothers at Power Struggle in Hiroshima on 3 November. Yuto-Ice said they would only agree if Ospreay teamed with Callum Newman, which adds an interesting twist

The biggest surprise came after the main event. Kenny Omega appeared on video asking for a title shot, then attacked Boltin Oleg, who had come out as a challenger, and Tsuji himself. Omega stood tall to end the show. Taichi also challenged Kidd for Power Struggle, and a video package teased Jon Moxley's return, with Shingo Takagi demanding a match with him

That is a lot of storylines set up in one night. Omega returning to challenge for New Japan's top title is a huge prospect, and Moxley's return adds even more star power. Power Struggle and the road to Wrestle Kingdom are looking very exciting

Would you like to see Omega against Tsuji at Wrestle Kingdom? And which result surprised you most?
