MJF calls out G1 winner Ryohei Oiwa at NJPW's Korakuen Hall show

MJF has turned up in New Japan, at least on video, POST Wrestling reports. He appeared in a recorded message at NJPW Road to King of Pro-Wrestling night two at Korakuen Hall. His target was 2026 G1 Climax winner Ryohei Oiwa, who was at ringside with his TMDK teammate Zack Sabre Jr. MJF offered to put up his unofficial Triple B title

The promo was classic MJF. He called Oiwa a chubby little child, then said that in his opinion Oiwa is also the best New Japan has to offer. He claimed that beating Oiwa would put him one step closer to locking the Forbidden Door and ending New Japan. He then went further and insulted Japanese wrestling fans as a whole, which is exactly the kind of line that will have the Korakuen crowd booing

He also took a shot at Oiwa's grappling style. MJF said they would see who the real king of the headlock is when he beats Oiwa with a headlock takeover in the middle of the ring. That is a funny line if you know MJF's love of mat wrestling. Oiwa is known for his grip work, so there is a real story there

No date has been set for a match. It will not happen at King of Pro-Wrestling, where Oiwa challenges Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship on Monday. MJF's last match was the Casino Gauntlet at All In: London, just over a month ago. Earlier on the same show, Oiwa and Sabre beat Tsuji and Ares in tag team action

We touched on this show when YOH defended against Robbie X, but the MJF angle deserves its own thread. MJF in Japan could be fascinating, because heel tactics work very differently in front of New Japan crowds. Oiwa is having a breakout year, and a match with MJF would expose him to a much bigger American audience. If he beats Tsuji on Monday, the stakes would be even higher

Would you want to see MJF against Oiwa? And how do you think MJF would go down with a Japanese crowd?

Not sure how this works with AEW and NJPW scheduling. Forbidden Door is usually where these matches happen

A Wrestle Kingdom spot would be bigger, though. January in Tokyo with MJF would sell plenty of tickets. Both companies want it to happen, so they will find a way
