John Morrison says Tony Khan is a lot like Vince McMahon, except with a good heart

John Morrison has been talking to Sportskeeda Wrestling and had some interesting things to say about Tony Khan. He compared the AEW boss to Vince McMahon, saying Khan could probably have done anything he wanted with his life and chose to throw himself into wrestling. His summary was that Khan is a lot like Vince, except with a good heart. Coming from someone who has worked under both men, that is quite a statement

Morrison spent years in WWE during the McMahon era before his run in AEW, so he has a better view than most on how the two operate. The comparison makes sense in some ways. Both are obsessive about the product, both are very hands on and both seem to live and breathe the business. Khan famously books most of the shows himself, much like Vince did for decades

He also touched on how things work in WWE now, pointing out that Triple H is operating under very different constraints than McMahon did. With TKO sitting above WWE, there is corporate oversight that simply did not exist when Vince ran everything. That changes how much freedom any one person has to make big calls on the fly

The good heart part is the bit people will latch onto, given everything that has come out about McMahon in recent years. It is a pointed way of drawing a line between them. Khan has had plenty of criticism for his booking and his online presence, but you rarely hear wrestlers describe him as anything other than decent to work for

I think it is a fair comparison on work ethic, but the two could not be more different in how they run a locker room. Vince ruled through fear and Khan seems to go the other way, sometimes to a fault. Is being too nice a weakness for a promoter? Curious what people think
