There is a new Intercontinental champion. Wrestling Inc reports that Ethan Page defeated Chad Gable to win the WWE Men's Intercontinental Championship on Monday's Raw

Gable had won the title from Penta at SummerSlam in August, and this was his fifth defence. Page targeted Gable's neck throughout the match

Gable hit an Olympic Slam through the announce desk and a moonsault, both for near falls. Page then powerslammed Gable through the timekeeper's area, and Gable's injured neck forced him to break up his own Chaos Theory cover at two. Page finally won with the Ego-Plex

On the same show, John Cena announced the John Cena Classic, a tournament pitting main roster stars against NXT talent, with the winner receiving a non spinning John Cena Championship at a special Raw on 14 December, reportedly at Walt Disney World. Cody Rhodes was named the first entrant, and Randy Orton warned Rhodes ahead of their Last Man Standing match at Crown Jewel on Saturday

Page has worked hard since moving to WWE, and winning the Intercontinental title is a big step for him. Using Gable's injured neck as the story of the match was smart booking. The John Cena Classic sounds like a fun idea for the end of the year

Was Ethan Page the right choice to win the title? And what do you think of the John Cena Classic?
