Cody Rhodes has signed a new contract with WWE, POST Wrestling reports. He revealed it on Andrew Schulz's Flagrant podcast while promoting the upcoming Street Fighter movie. Rhodes said he had just re-signed with WWE and would end his wrestling career with the company. That is about as clear a statement of loyalty as you will hear from a top star

He also explained why the new deal works for him. Rhodes said WWE now lets him take on film and other projects alongside wrestling. In his words, he is able to take a step away, collaborate with WWE and come back home. That kind of flexibility used to be reserved for The Rock and John Cena, so it shows how much the company values him

Rhodes did not say how long the deal runs or when he expects to retire. He said he does not know when settling down will be. What he did talk about was family, explaining that he eventually wants to step back from entertainment to focus on his two daughters. He said his parents were there for everything when he needed them, and he would love that for his girls

His conclusion was that this means he needs to get to work now. It is a refreshingly human take from someone who could easily have kept it to wrestling talk. Rhodes returned to WWE in 2022 after several years in AEW, and he has been one of the company's biggest stars ever since. Fightful ran companion pieces from the same interview, including Rhodes saying WWE pay is now at a level comparable with major sports

Rhodes has been the face of WWE for a few years now. He finished his story at WrestleMania, carried the title through a huge period of growth and handled the move to Netflix well. Locking him in for the rest of his career is an easy decision for WWE. The film work could also help bring new eyes to wrestling, just as it did with The Rock

How many more years do you think Cody has at the top? And would you like to see him do more acting?
