Chris Jericho has been talking about whether he will ever be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, in an interview with TMZ covered by Heavy. His answer is very Jericho. He believes he has earned it many times over, but says he does not need the official recognition. As he put it, he is in the Hall of Fame in his head and in the heads of anybody who appreciates the work he has done

His case is hard to argue with. Jericho was the first ever Undisputed WWE Champion, beating The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night in 2001. He held the World Heavyweight Championship three times and is credited with pitching the original Money in the Bank ladder match concept. He spent nearly 20 years with WWE across several runs. That night at Vengeance remains one of the defining moments of his career

Jericho asked himself whether he created enough memorable moments to be in the WWE Hall of Fame, and answered absolutely, saying that is all he needs. External validation, he suggested, matters less than the respect of his peers and the fans. That is consistent with what he said back in 2017, when he suggested he might skip his own induction and called such events pomp and circumstance

Of course, his recent years have been spent in AEW, where he was the first world champion and a central figure in the company's early growth. That makes a WWE induction a bit more complicated while he is associated with a rival. WWE has inducted people with ties elsewhere before, but usually once their in ring careers are winding down. At 55, that time may not be far off

I think he is a lock whenever it happens, and I would bet he turns up despite what he says. Few wrestlers have reinvented themselves as often or as successfully. Where does Jericho rank among the best of all time for you? And would you want him inducted by WWE even after his AEW years?

Superman

He says he would skip it, but I do not believe him for a second. Jericho loves a stage and a microphone. He would show up in a sparkly jacket and give a forty minute speech
