Will Ospreay defeated Swerve Strickland in the Men's Owen Hart Cup Final at AEW Forbidden Door 2026 on Sunday night at the SAP Center in San Jose, earning a shot at MJF's AEW World Championship at All In London in August. The match was the centrepiece of a card co-promoted by AEW, NJPW, CMLL and STARDOM and delivered what the Wrestling Observer described as the best match on an AEW pay-per-view since Double or Nothing 2023. Ospreay, who has spoken throughout the year about his dream of becoming the first British wrestler to win a world championship in his home country at Wembley Stadium, now has his opportunity.

The night's biggest surprise was in the Women's Owen Hart Cup Final where the young upstart Maya World defeated Mercedes Mone in a result almost nobody predicted. Mone, the 2025 tournament winner and one of AEW's biggest stars, was sent home by World while the crowd in San Jose gave the winner a genuine standing ovation for the upset. World will challenge for the AEW Women's World Championship at All In London. Reigning women's champion Thekla retained her title against STARDOM's Starlight Kid in a well-received match that the Triangle of Madness faction influenced without directly deciding.

In the match of the night for pure technical quality, NJPW's Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Kenny Omega in a submission-heavy tour de force. Omega, who had been positioning a win here as his path back to the AEW title, now faces an uncertain road. The six-on-six steel cage match had Team Briscoe defeating Team MJF, meaning Mark Briscoe has earned a world title shot at some point, setting up a crowded championship scene heading into All In. The event delivered on its cross-promotional premise with a card that gave meaningful moments to talent from all four companies.
