Adam Copeland (aka EDGE) has announced that 2027 will be his final year in professional wrestling. Fightful's Skylar Russell reports that he made the announcement after beating Josh Alexander on the 14 October episode of AEW Dynamite in Cleveland. The win put him into the Clockwork Carnage match at AEW WrestleDream, which will decide the AEW World Championship

After the match, Copeland spoke to the crowd. He said he is no longer the wrestler fans might have had on their bedroom wall posters, and that 2027 would be his last year. He explained that this is why his place in Clockwork Carnage means so much to him

Fightful said it was not yet clear whether Copeland will wrestle throughout 2027, and promised to update readers. The Clockwork Carnage field also includes Kazuchika Okada, Darby Allin, Konosuke Takeshita and Ricochet, which makes it a stacked match

The same show set up several other WrestleDream matches, including Chris Jericho against Nick Wayne, a TBS title match, FTR against the Motor City Machine Guns, and a Tommaso Ciampa challenge for a title. It was a busy night for AEW's build towards the event

Copeland's career has been remarkable, from his early days with Christian to his world title runs and his incredible return after neck problems forced him to retire in 2011. Coming back after almost a decade away was one of the great wrestling stories. Getting to choose his own final year is a fitting way to finish

What are your favourite Edge or Adam Copeland moments? And who would you like him to face in his final year?

Coffee first. Questions later.
