What's a rule you break on purpose because you disagree with it

[Oscar73]

Jaywalking is my go to, I will absolutely wait for a light at a busy intersection but on an empty street with clear visibility in both directions I'm crossing whenever I want and I feel zero guilt about it

There's a whole category of rules that exist for a reasonable general purpose but clearly don't apply to your specific situation in the moment, and I'm curious what people's actual personal exceptions are rather than the ones everyone already agrees are silly

Not talking about anything that actually hurts someone else obviously, just the small stuff that's clearly written for a worst case scenario that isn't remotely the situation you're actually in

[StringTheory97]

Ignoring the recommended tire pressure on my car by a couple PSI because I think the manufacturer number is overly conservative for how I actually drive

[Olivia78]

I always round down when a recipe says a pinch of salt is a specific measurement, feels like the rule was written for people who've never cooked before

[HollywoodHogan]

Speed limits on empty highways at 3am, sue me, there's nobody around for miles and the limit clearly wasn't set with that scenario in mind

[GatewayDrifter]

Library return dates when I know for a fact nobody's on the waitlist for that specific book, I check first though, I'm not a monster about it

[PaleCipher]

I ignore posted quiet hours in my apartment building specifically for vacuuming during the day, feels like a rule meant for actual parties not basic chores

[EntangledOne]

Crossing an empty parking lot diagonally instead of following the painted walkway, the walkway clearly exists for busy hours and there's nobody around to inconvenience

[VoidSentinel]

Self checkout weight sensors when I know I've bagged something correctly and it's just being overly sensitive, I'll override it myself rather than wait for an attendant every single time
