What's a completely mundane adult task you've somehow never learned to do

[Ben55]

I'm thirty four years old and I genuinely do not know how to parallel park with any confidence, twenty years of driving and I just circle the block looking for a spot with more room instead

There has to be a name for this phenomenon, some ordinary task that everyone assumes you picked up along the way, and somehow you just never did, no dramatic reason, it just never came up until suddenly it's embarrassing to admit

Ironing is another one for me honestly, I own an iron, I've used it maybe four times total, my solution is just hanging things carefully and hoping for the best

What's yours

[Aisha]

Sewing a button back on, I have paid a tailor five dollars to reattach a single button rather than learn the two minute skill myself

[StringTheory88]

Parallel parking is such a common one, I think half the reason is nobody actually teaches it properly, driving instructors rush through it and then you just avoid it forever afterward

[Laura94]

Can't whistle. Never learned. Tried for probably a cumulative week total across my life and nothing

[BradBytheway]

Tying a tie, I watch a video every single time I need one, it just refuses to stick in my memory no matter how many times I do it

[VectorDB Cobra]

Reversing a trailer, watched my dad do it a hundred times growing up and somehow absolutely none of it transferred when I finally had to try it myself

[Paul]

Folding a fitted sheet, this feels like the universal one honestly, I don't think I've ever met a single person who's actually mastered it

[Natalie_86]

Changing a tire. I have roadside assistance specifically because I have never once attempted it and don't plan to start now
