The hill you will die on: the trivial opinion you defend with unreasonable conviction

[AustinTheory18]

Not the big beliefs, the small ones. This thread is for the trivial hills you are prepared to die on, the low stakes opinions you hold with a conviction the subject in no way warrants, the correct way to load a dishwasher, the right temperature for a room, whether a certain food belongs in the fridge, the tiny hymns of your personal orthodoxy

The rules keep the peace, these must be genuinely trivial so no actual ethics, and you must state the hill AND defend it, a naked opinion is a flag planted on flat ground, the conviction is the entertainment, bring your reasoning however unhinged

The joy of these threads is discovering that your obvious universal truth is somebody else's personal heresy, that half the room stores the bread in the fridge like savages and the other half knows they are wrong, and that reasonable people can genuinely go to war over the direction of a toilet roll

So plant your flag, defend your hill, and prepare to discover which of your unshakeable convictions the board considers a war crime, appeals will not be heard, only met with greater conviction, this is the way of the hill

[Backprop Depot]

The toilet roll faces OUTWARD, over the top, this is not a preference it is a fact, the under configuration is chaos and I will accept no correspondence on the matter

[Amy96]

Over is correct and yet I feel our certainty proves the opening post right, we are identically deranged about a paper orientation and I respect you enormously

[Louise5]

Ketchup lives in the cupboard, it survived the crossing of oceans by sail, it does not need your fridge, chilling it is a modern anxiety and I will die roaring this

[Evelyn97]

Cupboard ketchup is where I get off the bus, that is a hill of actual botulism, some fridges are load bearing, appeal formally denied

[GlassyCandle]

The dishwasher has a correct loading and everyone I have ever lived with has been wrong, the plates FAN, the cutlery mixes, I have diagrams, do not test me

[Reuben]

You have diagrams is the most this thread sentence possible and I salute your commitment to a machine that cleans regardless

[HiddenSeb75]

A hot drink must be too hot to drink for the first four minutes, if it is drinkable on arrival it was made wrong, the anticipation is part of the beverage and I will not explain further

[Jarvis]

Tea heresy detected but weirdly I agree, a tea you can gulp immediately was brewed by a coward

[ScarletWrench]

Peas do not belong on the same part of the plate as anything wet, they are a rolling hazard and a border must be maintained, my family mocks the pea wall and the pea wall endures

[Firewall Rabbit]

The pea wall is the finest hill on this entire board and I am annexing it for my own household effective immediately, conviction accepted, flag saluted, war averted through mutual madness

[StoneCold]

Jelly for breakfast is. Game changer
