Everyone talks about how amazing remote work is. No commute flexibility schedule freedom. But there's a honeymoon period that's wearing off for a lot of people. First six months are glorious. Then isolation creeps in. You miss spontaneous conversations with coworkers. Collaboration gets weird on video. You're always on call because work is always right there. Your home stops being a refuge and becomes an office. Some people handle this fine. Others are discovering they actually need the office for their mental health. The discourse around remote work is weirdly polarized. It's either perfect or terrible when reality is it works for some people in some situations and not others.

The isolation is real. I thought I was productive at home but I was actually depressed and lonely

Hybrid is the answer. Some office days some remote days. Best of both worlds
