Password reset emails that take ten minutes to arrive. You're sitting there, refreshing your inbox, watching the countdown timer on the reset page tick down. Three minutes left, two minutes, one minute. Still nothing. Then it arrives and you've got to start the whole process again because the link expired.

The tech exists to send these instantly. There's no reason for the delay except presumably some backlog on the server end. But it's my time being wasted, not theirs. If I could magic away one annoyance, this would be top of the list. Right after people who walk slowly in groups blocking the entire pavement.

The "your call is important to us" message when you're on hold with customer service. It's not important. If it was important, you'd answer. The music loops every forty-five seconds. The estimated wait time keeps increasing. You've got two options: give up or commit to the next half hour of your life.

What I'd remove: the fake politeness. Just tell me "we're busy, wait or try later". At least that's honest. The corporate cheerfulness while you're being ignored is somehow worse than the wait itself.

Apps that force you to watch a tutorial every time you update. I've used this app for three years. I know where the buttons are. I don't need a five-second animation explaining that the settings menu is still in the top right corner where it's always been.

Even worse when there's no skip button. You have to sit through the whole thing, tapping "next" like a well-trained monkey. By the time it's done, you've forgotten why you opened the app in the first place. That's not onboarding, that's harassment.
