Which TV character would you want as your neighbour?

Television has given us some unforgettable neighbours. Some are kind and helpful, some are nosy and exhausting and some would turn your life upside down within a week. Imagining which character you would want living next door is a fun way to think about the shows we love. It is also a good way to reveal which characters we secretly find unbearable

There are some classic examples. Ned Flanders from The Simpsons would lend you anything and never complain, though he might invite you to church. Tom and Barbara Good from The Good Life would share their vegetables, while Margo and Jerry would be fascinating to watch from the window. Then there is Hyacinth Bucket from Keeping Up Appearances, who might be the most frightening neighbour in television history

My choice would be Mrs Doyle from Father Ted, purely for the endless cups of tea. She would never let you leave without a sandwich, and you would never need to buy biscuits again. The downside is that she would never take no for an answer. I think I could live with that

Feel free to pick neighbours you would avoid at all costs, too. Some characters are entertaining on screen but would be a nightmare in real life. Think of the noise, the gossip, the parties and the borrowing of lawnmowers that never come back
