With the World Cup occupying a lot of evening time and the streaming services competing for attention with House of the Dragon and The Bear, documentaries can get overlooked. But summer is actually good documentary season and there is usually interesting new work that gets buried under the flagship drama releases.

What documentary, recent or older, would you recommend to someone who has a few hours and an open mind? Any subject, any length, any platform. One recommendation with a brief reason.

Free Solo. I know everyone has already seen it but if you have not it is the best pure cinema experience I have had watching a documentary. The tension is almost unbearable
