Remakes are everywhere, and many of them disappoint. But it is fun to imagine how a classic film might look with today's actors in the lead roles. Some casting choices would be inspired, while others would be terrible in the most entertaining way. Let's play casting director

Pick a classic film from any era and recast the main roles with actors working today. It could be Casablanca, The Godfather, Jaws, Ghostbusters, Withnail and I or Pulp Fiction. Think about who could match the original performances, or who might bring something new to the roles. A completely different take can be just as interesting as a faithful copy

For example, a modern Jaws could star Paul Mescal as Hooper, Mahershala Ali as Brody and Brendan Gleeson as Quint. A new Ghostbusters might cast Bill Hader, Donald Glover and Kumail Nanjiani. Some films are so tied to their original stars that recasting feels impossible, which makes it even more fun to try

Directors can be part of your pitch too. Would your remake be a faithful update, a bold reimagining or a British take on a Hollywood classic? The more detail, the better

Which classic would you recast, and who would you cast?
