Streaming services have never agreed on the best way to release a series. Netflix made binge watching normal by dropping whole seasons at once. Disney and HBO often release episodes weekly, the way television used to work. Some shows split the difference with a few episodes first and the rest weekly

Releasing everything at once lets you watch at your own pace, and nobody has to wait a week for a cliffhanger. But it can also mean a show is forgotten within a fortnight, and spoilers spread quickly once people race through it. Some brilliant series seem to vanish without much discussion

Weekly releases build anticipation and conversation. Shows like that get talked about for months, with theories and reactions after every episode. The downside is the wait, and some viewers prefer to let a season finish before starting it anyway

Personally, I have come round to weekly releases. Half the fun of a good series is talking about it with others while it is still airing. A binge drop is great for a weekend, but the buzz seems to vanish quicker

Which do you prefer? Does the release model change whether you subscribe to a service, or whether you watch a show at all?
