Hermiod Was the Best Asgard and Here's Why Atlantis Got Lucky

Stargate Atlantis gave us Hermiod and it might be the best thing the spin-off contributed to the franchise. While SG-1 had the warm diplomatic Thor, Atlantis stationed the most aggressively unimpressed Asgard possible on the Daedalus. Hermiod is an engineering genius who cannot believe the level of incompetence he has to tolerate. His muttering in Asgard turned out to be actual English played backwards. He objects constantly to humans using Asgard technology offensively. He's grudgingly helpful while making clear he finds the whole enterprise beneath him. He's the funniest character in the Atlantis run and he barely appeared in most episodes.
