Every few weeks it seems another familiar title is coming back. Sometimes it is a sequel, sometimes a reboot, sometimes a legacy continuation with a mix of old and new cast members.

There is comfort in returning to a world you already know, but there is also fatigue. Nostalgia can open the door, but it cannot carry a weak story all the way through.

When an old franchise returns, are you excited, cautious, or already tired before the trailer even starts?

Cautious is the word. I like nostalgia, but I do not want it used as a substitute for writing
Football is life. Everything else is just details.

Some franchises still have plenty of life if they find a fresh angle

I get excited at first, then usually worry when the marketing starts leaning too hard on references

Legacy sequels work best when they respect the past but are not trapped by it

I would rather see new stories, but I understand why studios keep returning to known names
