This is one of the biggest confirmed 2026 releases and shows Marvel trying to rebuild hype with a major crossover event

eels like they're going bigger again after slowing down

Matticus

If this fails it's a big problem for them

Matticus

Cannot disagree with that. Good debate though, fair play

WhatUQuant

QuoteMarvel really needs this to hit

From what I have seen the gap between headlines and reality is still pretty wide. That is my read on it anyway
git commit -m "fixed everything"

VB

The truth is usually more complicated than the headline

Tracey

QuoteIf this fails it's a big problem for them

Solid advice that. Good to know about

JohnyBlue

I would do the prep differently. Post a photo when it is done

Quoteeels like they're going bigger again after slowing down

I have seen that go wrong more than once. Happy to answer questions if you get stuck
I read every reply. Even the bad ones.

SilverRider

That lines up with what I found. Same here really.

Thanks for the thread

DarkLantern

Solid point, that matches what I ran into. That is the sensible starting point
Opinions are my own. Obviously. Dave

Ended up in the same place, yeah. Good luck with it
git commit -m "fixed everything"

WhatUQuant

Seems like it from what I have seen. More to come on this I suspect
git commit -m "fixed everything"

Cheeky Kernel

Cannot disagree with that. It always comes down to who wants it more in the big moments.

Good debate though, fair play. :)

Sophie83

Good point. Been lurking but had to agree with that.

Good stuff

Ann

Yeah that is the sensible route. The key is not to change too many things at once or you will not know what actually fixed it.

Let us know how it goes
RTFM and then ask

ProperMadlad20

QuoteSolid point, that matches what I ran into. That is the sensible starting point.

I am not sure that is always the case. Thanks for the thread

Plateau65

Yep, agree with that. Ha, fair enough. 8)
Measure twice, post once

GlassKnight

People forget how long they've been setting pieces up for this kind of story. If "Doomsday" really is the culmination, it better feel earned.

Otherwise it's just another flashy chapter in a very long book

Ben

I swear every time Marvel whispers the word "Doomsday" the internet goes into full detective mode. People are already stitching together theories like it's a crime board.

Honestly though, I kind of love that part. Half the fun is watching everyone convince themselves they know what's coming

NightHarbour

I'm cautiously excited, but I need Marvel to remember that emotional payoff matters more than just scale. Bigger isn't always better.

Give me one or two genuinely shocking character moments and I'll be satisfied
Football is life. Everything else is just details.

ProperMadlad20

I can't lie, I'm already imagining the opening 10 minutes and how they might try to set the tone. That's when Marvel usually either nails it or overreaches.

Either way, I'm strapped in for the ride

QuantumLeap53

I just hope they remember why people loved the earlier Avengers films. It wasn't just the scale, it was the character dynamics.

If they get that right again, everything else will fall into place

Mia86

Say what you want about Marvel fatigue, but when they get it right, it's still the most fun shared cinema experience out there.

If "Avengers 5" brings back that feeling from Infinity War era, people will absolutely show up in numbers

Oscar_38

I kind of hope they slow things down a bit and let scenes breathe instead of constant cut-to-action sequences. That would make "Doomsday" stand out more.

Give us tension, not just explosions, and it could really work

Stu96

The teaser buzz is fun, but I'm trying to stay grounded. Marvel hype cycles can swing from "best thing ever" to "why did I watch that" pretty quickly.

Still, I can't pretend I'm not curious. They know exactly how to poke that nostalgia button

Clever Wrench

The name "Doomsday" alone feels like they're trying to tell us this isn't going to be a light ride. I kind of respect the confidence.

Now they just have to actually deliver on it, which is the tricky part

Highland Dylan

At this point I'm more curious about tone than plot. I want to know if this is serious endgame style storytelling or another crowd-pleaser mashup.

Either way, I'm watching it day one

RomanReigns02

Even if it flops, the discussion around it is going to be wild. Marvel always wins the conversation game, if nothing else.

But I'm rooting for it to actually land this time

Ria99

If "Avengers 5" is really building toward something called Doomsday, they better go all in on stakes this time. No more fake-outs where everything resets at the end.

Give us consequences, proper consequences, and I'll be happy. Even if it gets messy, I'd rather that than safe storytelling

Delulu

If nothing else, this is going to dominate discussion for months. Marvel knows how to keep itself in the conversation.

Whether that translates to a good film or not, we'll find out soon enough
VAR can do one

Seb83

I just hope they don't rely too heavily on multiverse cameos again. At some point it starts to feel like fan service roulette instead of a real story.

That said, if they use it to actually raise stakes in "Doomsday", it could work brilliantly

alwaysPatrick19

If they actually stick the landing on "Doomsday" this could be one of those MCU phases people talk about for years. I just hope they don't overstuff it like some of the recent films.

The tease alone already feels bigger than most trailers these days, so I'm cautiously hyped but trying not to get carried away
All original content unless stated

Kev94

Not gonna lie, I miss the days when we went into these films with less info. Now we basically have breakdowns of teasers before the teaser even drops properly.

Still, I'm in. Even when Marvel stumbles, it usually delivers at least a couple of moments that feel worth the ticket

SwiftQuarry

I'm just here for the crossover chaos at this point. Marvel assembling everyone again is like a big budget group chat argument waiting to happen.

Also, if Deadpool shows up in any form, the tone is going to implode in the best possible way

Phil7

People are sleeping on how hard it is to balance this many characters. If they manage it, "Doomsday" could actually be a miracle of structure more than spectacle.

But yeah, that's a big "if". We've seen both sides of that coin recently
// TODO: write better signature

Marcus

I wonder if they're going to finally commit to a proper villain arc this time instead of teasing one for three films and then rushing the payoff.

If they nail that, it could elevate the whole phase massively
RTFM and then ask

Velvet Connor

The funniest part is watching everyone act surprised when Marvel starts teasing something huge again. Like, of course they are, that's the whole machine.

And honestly, I'm not mad at it. It's part of the ritual at this point

Gaz90

If they bring in some lesser-used characters and actually give them something to do, "Doomsday" could feel fresh again.

Otherwise it's just going to be the same core group saving the day with different lighting
ISA maxed. Costs minimised.

Dark Hawk

I actually like that they're teasing it early. At least it feels like there's a plan again instead of random standalone films.

Even if the plan changes halfway through, the illusion of structure helps a lot

HeartbreakKidStinger64

If this ends up being half as chaotic as people are predicting, it might actually be fun just for the sheer unpredictability.

Sometimes controlled chaos is exactly what these big crossover films need
git commit -m "fixed everything"

WWEPete45

I hope they don't forget humour in all the doom talk. Marvel works best when it balances stakes with character moments that feel real.

Too grim and it loses that identity it built over the years

Sinead

Honestly, I'm just waiting for the first proper trailer before making any big judgement. Teasers can be misleading on purpose.

But yeah, the hype is definitely starting to build in a way I haven't felt in a while

Rough Reece

The name "Doomsday" makes me think they're going for a darker tone shift. That could be exactly what the franchise needs right now.

Or it could be marketing hype again. Marvel is good at both
