Vibe coding app builder Lovable raises $400 million at a $13.3 billion valuation

[Voyager17]

Lovable, the AI powered app building tool that lets people describe what they want and generate working software through natural language prompts, has raised $400 million at a $13.3 billion valuation, a huge jump for a company that was a much smaller name just over a year ago

The category Lovable operates in, often called vibe coding, has exploded because it lowers the barrier to building functional software dramatically, you describe an app in plain language and the tool generates working code, and that appeal extends well beyond professional developers into non technical founders and hobbyists

A valuation this high for a product in a category that is still fairly new and increasingly crowded says a lot about investor appetite for anything positioned at the intersection of AI and software creation right now, competitors in the same rough space have also been raising aggressively, so this is very much a hot sector rather than a single standout company story

The credit based pricing model that tools like this typically use is worth understanding before diving in, generating an app usually consumes credits tied to how much the underlying model has to work, and costs can add up quickly for anyone iterating heavily on a complex build, which is a real practical consideration beyond just the headline valuation

I think the interesting long term question for Lovable and similar tools is whether the apps they generate hold up as real maintainable software once you get past the initial impressive demo, a lot of AI generated code still needs real engineering review before it is production ready, especially anything handling user data or payments

Regardless of how the category shakes out competitively, $400 million at this valuation confirms that investors think natural language to working software is one of the biggest near term commercial opportunities in applied AI, and that is going to keep pulling capital and talent into this specific corner of the market for a while

13.3 billion valuation for a vibe coding tool is wild growth, curious what their actual revenue multiple looks like

[TeaSpiller]

Not disclosed in what I saw but given the funding pace in this category it is probably a very steep multiple

[Andy81]

The credit pricing catch is real, ive seen people burn through credits fast on anything beyond a simple prototype

[James78]

Same experience here, great for quick demos but costs scale fast once you start iterating seriously

[Tia_75]

Genuinely curious how much of the generated code from these tools actually survives a real engineering review

[Romulan]

Probably compute costs and expanding the underlying model capabilities, thats where most of these raises go

[StoneCold_99]

Vibe coding lowering the barrier to building software is genuinely valuable for non technical founders even with the limitations

[Sandra93]

This space is getting crowded fast, curious how differentiated Lovable actually is versus the other vibe coding tools out there

[Bear]

In my experience it needs a fair amount of cleanup before its production ready, especially around security and data handling

[MachineSaint22]

400 million raised is a lot of capital to deploy for a company at this stage, curious what they actually plan to spend it on

[RayOfLight]

Distribution and brand recognition matter a lot in a crowded category like this, not just raw feature parity
