Abu Dhabi based QuantumGate and NEC's Gulf branch are working together to speed up the move to post quantum security for critical infrastructure and telecoms operators in the UAE, The Quantum Insider reports. QuantumGate is a quantum safe security company owned by VentureOne, the venture builder of the Advanced Technology Research Council. Its cryptographic libraries were developed at Abu Dhabi's Technology Innovation Institute

The partnership covers four areas: building an inventory of cryptographic assets to set a baseline of quantum risk, creating migration roadmaps aligned with regulations and standards, scaling pilots into multi year migration programmes and deploying QuantumGate products. NEC handles integration in mission critical environments. That sequence matches what the UK's NCSC and US agencies recommend, starting with knowing where your cryptography is

QuantumGate chief technology officer Janne Hirvimies said "the focus is now shifting to execution," adding: "Migration is a complex, multi-year effort, and it builds on the same foundation as strong cyber resilience today." NEC's Tamer Bdran said: "Critical infrastructure and telecommunications operators need a partner who can take them from assessment to secure, scalable deployment."

The article mentions the harvest now, decrypt later risk alongside current threats from state actors and AI driven malware. Gulf states have invested heavily in quantum and AI in recent years, and post quantum security is part of that push. The US government audit published this week, which found no federal agency fully ready, shows how hard this kind of migration is even with large budgets

Is the inventory step the hardest part of post quantum migration? And are Gulf states moving faster than Europe on quantum security?
