First place went to GEM-4, a physical robotic assistant built to help elderly and disabled individuals with daily living tasks, using a larger Gemma 4 model to label video training data and a smaller, fine tuned version to translate visual observations and language instructions directly into real world physical movements. Second place went to Trido, a voice controlled digital whiteboard built specifically for educators with physical disabilities, generating mind maps and quizzes on canvas through real time speech processing running entirely locally. Third place, PenguinAgent, is an offline research tool built for wildlife ecologists working in remote field locations without reliable internet access, using video and telemetry analysis to study animal behavior while keeping all collected data private and stored locally.

Several category specific prizes went to projects tackling distinctly different real world problems. TrueVoice, winner of the AI Trust and Safety Prize, analyzes vocal anomalies and emotional tone specifically to detect voice cloning fraud before scammers using a cloned loved one's voice can actually cause real emotional or financial harm to a victim. Gem-Care, winning the Digital Equity and Inclusion Prize, fine tuned Gemma 4 to better recognize non normative speech patterns like dysarthria, cutting the word error rate nearly in half compared to the unmodified base model. CodeBuddy, the Future of Education Prize winner, helps bridge a real digital divide for millions of students in Indonesia who lack internet connected computers, letting them write Python code on paper, photograph it, and have it transcribed, compiled, and debugged entirely offline.

Other standout winners included Acuífero·Vigía, a flood early warning system deployed in South America that fuses local telemetry, volunteer submitted audio, and river camera feeds into real time predictions, and PreVillage, a voice first tool that helps rural citizens in Nepal navigate government services through WhatsApp using Romanized Nepali speech recognition. The challenge arrives as Gemma passes one billion total downloads, and Google framed the sheer breadth of winning entries, spanning elder care, education, disaster response, fraud prevention, and accessibility, as evidence that truly practical, privacy respecting, edge deployed AI is now within reach of individual developers working with limited resources rather than remaining something only large, well funded labs can actually build and deploy
