TFG London, the UK arm of South Africa's The Foschini Group, has been hit by a cyberattack. BleepingComputer reports that the company discovered the attack on 11 October. It affects IT systems used by its fashion brands Phase Eight, Hobbs and Whistles

Several systems are still down, but the company says its shops remain open. Its other UK brands, White Stuff and Inside Story, are unaffected, as are its operations in Australia and Africa. That suggests the company was able to contain the incident to part of its network

TFG London has started its incident response and business continuity plans and brought in outside cybersecurity experts. It is still investigating whether customer data was taken and says it will contact anyone affected. Customers are advised to watch out for phishing emails in the meantime

As of mid 2026, the group ran 649 stores worldwide, with annual sales of £488 million. BleepingComputer found no hacking group claiming responsibility so far. The article places the attack alongside a recent ASOS data breach and unconfirmed claims of an attack on H&M

UK retail has had a rough couple of years with cyberattacks, and fashion brands with big online operations are attractive targets. Keeping the shops open is the right priority. Hopefully the investigation finds that customer data is safe

Do you shop with any of these brands? And what more should retailers do to protect customer data?
