My phone battery used to last most of the day, now it barely gets through half.

I haven't changed how I use it much, so I'm not sure what's causing it.

Is this just normal signs of battery aging or something worse?
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Ridge

Could be a few things.

Check battery usage in settings first. That usually tells you what's draining it.

Common causes:

Apps running in background
High screen brightness
Location services always on
Battery degradation over time

If your phone is a couple of years old, some level of battery wear is normal.

But if it dropped suddenly, it's usually an app or setting rather than the battery itself.

Agree with that, same experience here. Worth trying before anything more drastic.

Been following this thread and that seems right. Appreciate the discussion.

That is my read on it too. The key is not to change too many things at once or you will not know what actually fixed it.

That is how I would approach it anyway.

Background processes and startup items cause more problems than hardware failures in my experience. :-\

That resonates with me. There is a kind of restraint in the best of this that is harder to achieve than it looks.

Worth a longer look.

Disk health is worth running a diagnostic on before spending on anything.

Kind of what I thought yeah. Let me know what you think.

Check temperatures first before assuming anything else.

Worked for me too. I will keep an eye on it.

A lot of Windows issues sort themselves with a fresh install of drivers.

Interesting, I had the opposite experience. Thanks for the thread.

Agree completely, preparation is everything. Once you do something once yourself you always know you can do it again.

Turned out alright when I did it.

BigDog

Completely agree with that. Worth a look if you have not already. :D

Good shout. I know exactly what you mean.

Ha, fair enough.
