Chrome specifically. I opened Task Manager and noticed my browser is using a huge amount of RAM.

Even with just a few tabs open it seems high.

Is this normal now or something wrong?

Modern browsers are basically mini operating systems now.

Each tab, extension, and process uses memory.

Things that increase usage:

Lots of extensions
Heavy websites (video, apps, dashboards)
Multiple tabs

You can reduce it by:

Removing unused extensions
Using tab sleeping features
Closing background tabs

But yeah, high RAM usage is pretty normal these days.

Close some tabs. Delete Internet history/cookies. Not passwords obviously. I saw a mates Pc Yesterday and he had a hundred tabs open I swear.

I run my pc pretty clean. I clean it up regularly and it runs alot smoother. Other people without OCD might not bother. Its the same with the washing machine and dishwasher and running cleaning cycles.

I have heard that but I am not sure it holds up. Thanks for that.

Most slowdowns on older machines are disk related not processor related. :)
