Being the tech expert in the family brings plenty of strange phone calls. Most are routine, like forgotten passwords, printers that will not print or phones that are full. But every now and then, a call comes in that is so baffling, funny or stressful that it becomes a family legend. my guess is that everyone on this forum has at least one

Mine came from an uncle who rang in a panic because his computer had disappeared. After twenty minutes of increasingly confused questions, it turned out his monitor had been switched off at the wall by the cleaner. He was convinced he had been hacked. To this day, the family call him the man who lost the internet

Some calls are funny, like relatives looking for the any key or wondering why the mouse will not work on the screen. Others are more serious, like elderly parents falling for scam calls, or important files lost forever. Both kinds of story are welcome here, although please keep things kind, as everyone has to learn somehow

Feel free to share how you solved the problem, if you managed to. Some solutions are as funny as the problems

What is your worst or most memorable family tech support call?
