Ive got an older desktop thats otherwise running perfectly fine but it fails the Windows 11 check purely because it doesnt have TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot isnt available in the firmware, and Ive heard Rufus can get around this so I wanted to ask people here whove actually done it before I start messing with my main machine

From what Ive read the process is you grab the official Windows 11 ISO straight from Microsoft, then open Rufus, select your USB drive and the ISO file, and under the Image option dropdown you pick the Extended Windows 11 Installation option, sometimes labelled as no TPM or no Secure Boot depending on the Rufus version, and that strips those checks out of the installer entirely

There also seems to be a separate Windows User Experience box in newer Rufus versions where you can additionally remove the requirement for 4GB plus RAM, skip the online Microsoft account requirement, and disable the automatic BitLocker or device encryption thing, which sounds useful since I dont want my drive automatically encrypted with a key Ive never backed up

My main worry is less about the initial install working and more about what happens afterward, Ive read that unsupported installs can technically work fine day to day but might run into problems with future feature updates or driver support down the line since Microsoft isnt officially validating the hardware combination

Before I wipe a USB stick and start this on my desktop, has anyone here actually run a Rufus bypassed install of Windows 11 long term, and did you run into any real world issues with updates, drivers or general stability that I should know about first

Been running a Rufus bypassed install on an old i5 desktop without TPM for over a year now, no major issues so far, feature updates have installed fine every time
