The air versus AIO debate comes up in every build thread eventually. High-end air coolers have improved significantly to where flagship tower coolers match or beat most 240mm AIOs thermally. AIOs have improved pump reliability. Pricing has shifted.

In 2026 with current hardware, where do you come down and has anything changed your view recently?

Moved to a high-end air cooler from a 280mm AIO last year and have not looked back. Quieter, simpler, no pump to fail, and thermally close enough that the difference does not affect real-world performance
