The World Grand Prix in Leicester is down to its final four, and Nathan Aspinall got there in style. He beat Ryan Joyce 3-0 in the quarter finals with an average of 105.15, the third highest winning average in the tournament's history according to Sporting Life. It was also the best ever recorded in a best of five sets match at the event. This is the double in, double out format that trips up so many top players, which makes it even more impressive

Aspinall was delighted afterwards. He said he was absolutely buzzing, felt relaxed and focused, and called it probably one of the best performances he has ever produced. After some difficult spells in recent years, it is good to see him playing this well on a big stage. The Asp is always entertaining when he is in form

The other quarter finals were eventful too. Gerwyn Price came back from 2-0 down to beat Jonny Clayton 3-2 in an all Welsh battle. Luke Humphries swept Niels Zonneveld 3-0, ending the run of the player who knocked out Josh Rock earlier in the week, and remains unbeaten in the tournament. James Wade crushed Gian van Veen 3-0, winning eight legs in a row along the way. Clayton had looked strong earlier in the week too

That sets up two strong semi finals on Saturday, now best of seven sets. Aspinall faces Price, and Humphries takes on Wade, who has a long history in this event and loves the format. The final is on Sunday, with £150,000 for the winner. After Luke Littler's shock exit on the opening night, the title is wide open

Who are you backing? Humphries looks the most consistent, but Aspinall at 105 is hard to stop. And can Wade roll back the years in a format he has always enjoyed?
