Wimbledon starts 29 June and the draw will be made shortly. The French Open at Roland Garros wrapped in late May with the usual clay court specialists leaving centre stage for the grass court specialists. Carlos Alcaraz, who has shown he can win on any surface, is the man in form heading into the grass season. Jannik Sinner won Wimbledon in 2025 but has since shown some inconsistency. On the women's side Iga Swiatek has been dominant on clay and the question is whether she can sustain that on grass after the French Open drain.

The build-up is being slightly overshadowed by the World Cup but Wimbledon always creates its own atmosphere regardless of what else is happening. The British interest in Wimbledon never diminishes and the stakes around Andy Murray's legacy and whether any current British player can make a serious run are part of every preview. The grass court season events at Halle and Queen's give some indication of form before the main event.

Who do you think wins Wimbledon this year and which match are you most looking forward to?
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Alcaraz on grass is the pick I keep coming back to. His ability to vary pace and come forward suits Wimbledon specifically and he has shown he can perform on big occasions under pressure
