When did you personally realize you'd never actually go pro at the sport you loved most as a kid

[Drift Sentinel]

Had a genuinely humbling moment at around fifteen watching a peer who'd clearly leveled up in ways I simply hadn't, realized the gap wasn't closing no matter how hard I practiced

Curious what people's own actual moment of realization looked like, the specific point where the dream quietly became just a hobby instead

[Electric Holly]

Mine came during a tryout where I watched someone two years younger outplay me completely, that was the moment the honest math finally clicked

[Wendy17]

Honestly never had one dramatic moment, just a slow gradual realization over a couple of seasons that the gap between me and the actually elite players wasn't closing

[Steve59]

Yeah similar story, a specific tournament loss where I got outclassed made the whole thing click far earlier than I'd like to admit

[Tundra54]

Nah for me it was actually a coach's honest conversation, blunt but kind way of telling me where my actual ceiling probably sat

[MidnightBear]

Weirdly it hit me watching game film of myself for the first time, seeing it from outside made the gap between me and the actual prospects painfully obvious

[Sigma98]

Same kind of tryout moment honestly, watching a younger kid effortlessly do things I'd been grinding years to barely achieve

[DarkSideRichard47]

Mine came in college actually, made a decent team but got benched behind someone with different natural gifts, that settled it for me pretty quickly
