Saturday's second round at the Swiss Darts Trophy brought plenty of drama, Darts World reports. Jonny Clayton was the standout, beating Maik Kuivenhoven 6-1 with an average of 108.81. DartsNews says that is the second highest average in the event's history. It was a statement performance in Basel

There were big upsets in the evening. Mensur Suljovic knocked out Michael van Gerwen 6-4. Jeffrey de Graaf beat defending champion Stephen Bunting 6-4, which also hurts Bunting's European Championship hopes that we discussed this week. Dirk van Duijvenbode edged James Wade 6-5, with DartsNews reporting that Wade missed four match darts

Luke Humphries had a scare against Kevin Doets. He won 6-5, despite Doets averaging 105.64. Humphries said he was pleased with the performance and felt he was the better player for most of the game. Gian van Veen whitewashed Niko Springer 6-0, while Josh Rock beat Dave Chisnall 6-5 and Damon Heta beat Danny Noppert 6-3

The afternoon session had its own highlights. Rob Cross beat Luke Woodhouse 6-4, and Michael Smith beat Jermaine Wattimena 6-4 with an average just under 103. Tom Bissell beat Martin Schindler, and Ross Smith beat William O'Connor 6-4, even though O'Connor averaged 104 in defeat. Krzysztof Ratajski, Karel Sedlacek, Cristo Reyes and Bradley Brooks also won

The standard across the day was remarkable, with several players losing despite averaging over 100. That shows how deep the field has become, as we said in our data thread. Sunday's finals day promised plenty of fireworks. The overall winner will get its own update once confirmed

Who impressed you most on Saturday? And is Clayton's 108 average a sign he is back to his best?

Question everything. Especially this.
