It has taken years of failed negotiations, but Anthony Joshua against Tyson Fury is finally booked. The two British heavyweights meet at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on 11 December, streaming globally on Netflix. So it is time to put your predictions on record

On paper, the records are close. Fury is 36-2-1, with both defeats coming against Oleksandr Usyk. Joshua is 30-4, having lost to Andy Ruiz Jr, Usyk twice and Daniel Dubois. Both men have held multiple world titles, and both have shown they can win in very different ways

Fury's case is about skill and size. He is one of the most awkward heavyweights of all time, with great footwork, a long jab and a knack for making opponents miss. He has also shown he can knock people out, as Deontay Wilder found out twice. If he controls the distance, Joshua could find it very hard to land clean

Joshua's case rests on power and athleticism. At his best he is a destructive puncher with a sharp right hand and a strong uppercut. He has been working to rebuild his confidence after the Dubois loss, and he will know that one big shot can change any heavyweight fight

There are questions for both. Fury's motivation and conditioning have varied throughout his career, and he has retired and returned more than once. Joshua has sometimes looked hesitant against opponents who apply pressure. Whoever deals with the occasion better will probably win

My own feeling is that this one goes the distance, with Fury winning on points by boxing smartly behind the jab. But I can easily see Joshua catching him if Fury gets careless in the later rounds. Heavyweight boxing rarely goes to script

Vote in the poll: Joshua by KO or stoppage, Joshua on points, Fury by KO or stoppage, or Fury on points. Who are you backing, and why?
Be excellent to each other
