Michael van Gerwen is close to dropping out of the world's top ten. DartsNews' Kieran Wood reports on the latest PDC Order of Merit, which shows the three time world champion has fallen to 10th on 587,500 pounds after losing 6-5 to William O'Connor in Maastricht

Gary Anderson has overtaken him, moving up to 9th on 591,750 pounds. Nathan Aspinall sits 11th, just 3,000 pounds behind Van Gerwen, so a good run for Aspinall in Dortmund could push the Dutchman out of the top ten

At the top of the rankings, Luke Littler leads with 3,113,500 pounds, far ahead of Luke Humphries on 1,062,500. Gian van Veen is third on 1,045,750, with Gerwyn Price fourth on 787,000

There were gains elsewhere. Danny Noppert rises to 7th after reaching the Maastricht final. Niels Zonneveld earned 35,000 pounds for the title and climbs to a career high of 28th, while William O'Connor enters the top 32 for the first time

Van Gerwen dominated darts for years, so seeing him on the edge of the top ten is a sign of how much the sport has changed. Younger players are taking over. Still, nobody should write him off completely

Can Van Gerwen bounce back? And how long will Littler stay so far ahead at the top?

Chelsea till I die.
