Jude Bellingham drags England past Norway 2-1 in extra time to reach the semis

England are through to the World Cup semifinals after beating Norway 2-1 in extra time at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, with Jude Bellingham scoring both goals for his second consecutive brace of the tournament. Andreas Schjelderup had put Norway ahead in the 35th minute with a stunning strike off the post that gave Jordan Pickford no chance, and it stayed that way deep into stoppage time

England dominated a lot of the possession without really breaking Norway down properly in normal time, and Erling Haaland went strangely quiet for long stretches despite all the pre match buildup pitching this as a Kane versus Haaland showdown. In the end it was Bellingham who decided it, reacting quickest to a saved Morgan Rogers effort in the third minute of extra time to tuck home the rebound

There was late drama too. England thought they had a penalty when Djed Spence went down in the box, only for VAR to overturn it, and Norway had a goal chalked off earlier in the second half after the referee spotted a foul on Elliot Anderson in the build up. Norway threw everything forward in the closing minutes with Oscar Bobb missing a promising chance, but Pickford and the England defense held on

This is only the fourth time in the country's history that England have reached a World Cup semifinal, and they now wait to find out whether they will face Argentina or Switzerland next. Bellingham has scored four goals in his last two matches alone, and after a fairly bruising 120 minutes, Tuchel's side will need to recover fast before the next round
