Jack Catterall says he is ready for a fight. Boxing News 24 reports that the British boxer posted a message saying he was ready, tagging DAZN, as the WBA's negotiation window for his mandatory welterweight title fight with Teofimo Lopez closes

The deadline is the end of business on Thursday 22 October, US Eastern time. It does not automatically strip Lopez of the title, but it puts pressure on both sides to reach an agreement

Catterall won the WBA regular title against Shakhram Giyasov in May, and has been waiting five months for a shot at the full champion. That is a long time for a boxer to be kept inactive

Lopez's camp wants permission to fight Ryan Garcia in early 2027 in a unification bout instead. A pending appeal will decide what happens next, so the situation remains uncertain

Mandatory challengers often get pushed aside for bigger money fights, and Catterall has been unlucky with this before. Fans would love to see him get his chance. A fight with Lopez would be a big night for British boxing

Should Lopez be forced to fight Catterall first? And would Catterall have a chance against him?

Five months waiting is too long. Fighters need to stay active

Inactivity costs them sharpness and income. Inactivity costs fighters dearly
