Itauma bids to become the second YOUNGEST heavyweight champion

This Saturday brings a genuine boxing doubleheader worth clearing your evening for. At London's O2 Arena, 21 year old Moses Itauma faces Filip Hrgovic for the vacant IBF heavyweight title, while over in Birmingham, Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron meet in a three belt light middleweight unification fight at the BP Pulse Arena.

Itauma enters unbeaten at 14-0 with 12 knockouts, and a win here would make him the second youngest heavyweight world champion in history, behind only Mike Tyson. Hrgovic brings a 20-1 record and considerably more experience at the top level, his lone defeat coming against Daniel Dubois back in 2024. Since that loss he's beaten three Britons in a row, most recently stopping Dave Allen in May, so this isn't some faded veteran being fed to a hyped prospect, it's a live threat with real recent form.

The IBF title itself is only up for grabs because Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt back in June rather than face his mandatory challenger, and Frank Sanchez, the organization's number one contender, was paid to step aside specifically so this fight could happen for the vacant strap. Whoever wins is obligated to face Sanchez next, so Saturday's winner doesn't get much time to enjoy the title before defending it.

Down in Birmingham, Mayer and Cameron are putting all three major light middleweight belts on the line in one fight, Mayer's WBA and WBC titles against Cameron's WBO belt. Cameron remains best known for handing Katie Taylor the only professional loss of her career, and both fighters have built reputations around aggressive, come forward styles rather than pure boxing craft, which should make for an entertaining fight regardless of who walks away with all three belts
