Tyson Fury has claimed his long awaited fight against Anthony Joshua is now in serious doubt, saying his rival's camp is asking for more money before they will sign off on the bout. The two heavyweights have been negotiating a fight for November, with Madison Square Garden in New York emerging as the likely venue after originally being contracted to take place in the UK.

In a social media video Fury lashed out specifically at Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn, accusing the pair of already having banked huge sums from Turki Alalshikh across boxing, darts, and snooker deals, and calling it audacious to now ask for even more money on top of that. Sky Sports reports that Joshua has actually signed a contract for the fight already, and Matchroom are still working toward a formal announcement despite Fury's public frustration.

Matchroom CEO Frank Smith struck a noticeably calmer tone earlier in the week, confirming the original deal was contractually for a UK venue but saying everyone involved wants to see the fight happen if a switch to MSG is what gets it over the line. He described this as a critical week for negotiations and said the next seven to ten days would need real progress if a dedicated training camp is going to happen in time for a November date.

This is far from the first time these two have gotten close only to see talks collapse. Back in 2021 terms could not be agreed and the whole thing fell apart after a US judge ordered Fury into a trilogy with Deontay Wilder instead, so long time fans of both fighters have every reason to be cautious about getting their hopes up again.

Fury's own manager Spencer Brown has admitted he is now genuinely uneasy about the delay, saying that a week ago he would have been confident but the lack of progress since then has started to worry him
