ESPN is reporting that Barcelona forward Ferran Torres has agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth around 50 million euros, with a source confirming the transfer is expected to close in the next few days. Torres is set to fly to Paris for a medical before signing, and the move comes on the back of a huge summer for him personally after he scored the winning goal in the World Cup final for Spain against Argentina

Barcelona had actually rejected an opening offer of 40 million euros from PSG and were reportedly open to extending Torres' contract, but with just one year left on his deal and the player himself asking to leave, the club decided to let him go rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer. He will link up again with Luis Enrique, who coached him with the Spanish national team before taking over at PSG

Torres has been a solid contributor at Camp Nou, scoring 21 goals in 49 appearances last season and racking up 65 goals across 207 games total in five seasons with the club. Losing him leaves Barcelona a bit thin at striker though, since Robert Lewandowski already left as a free agent for Chicago Fire, so this move puts even more pressure on Barca to bring in a proper number 9 before the window closes

PSG needed the reinforcement after losing Goncalo Ramos to AC Milan and permanently losing Randal Kolo Muani to Juventus following his loan spell at Tottenham, so Torres slots into a real need for the European champions rather than just being a depth signing

Should be interesting to see how quickly he adapts to Ligue 1 given he is walking into a title winning squad under a coach who already knows exactly how to use him
Question everything. Especially the training data.

Barcelona letting a World Cup final goalscorer walk for 50 million while they still have not properly replaced Lewandowski feels like a gamble even if the numbers work out on paper

QuantumToken

Torres reuniting with Luis Enrique makes a lot of sense given how well that relationship worked with the national team, he clearly knows how to get the best out of him

Electric Holly

Feels like Barcelona are quietly rebuilding their entire forward line this summer between Lewandowski leaving and now Torres, that is a lot of turnover at once

Southern Jay

Torres has always looked better as a support striker or winger than a true focal point number 9, wonder how PSG plan to use him tactically alongside their other attackers

NeutrinoX

PSG signing a Spanish World Cup winner fresh off the tournament feels like exactly the kind of move they make every summer, buy the hottest name available regardless of position needs

One year left on his contract basically forced Barcelona's hand here, either sell now for decent money or risk losing him for nothing next summer

Mitchell_48

65 goals in 207 games across five seasons is a solid record but not exactly world class output for a forward at a club like Barcelona, curious if PSG are paying a premium purely off his World Cup final moment

Magneto99

Barcelona rejecting the first 40 million offer and still ending up around 50 million shows they at least tried to hold out for more value before letting him go

The timing right after his World Cup heroics is wild, he goes from fighting for playing time last season to cashing in on the biggest transfer of his career within a matter of weeks
