Argentina are through to the Round of 32 with a game to spare. They beat Austria 2-0 in Dallas. Both goals were Messi. Austria were actually competitive for long periods. They had Austria pressing high. Ralf Rangnick's side forced Argentina deep and created problems. But Austria managed just one shot on target all match. Argentina were clinical when it mattered. Emiliano Martinez was barely troubled. The defending champions look organised defensively and devastatingly effective when Messi has the ball in positions to hurt you. They face Jordan in their final group game which looks like it could produce more goals and more Messi records.

Austria were genuinely competitive until the goals came. Rangnick had them organized and pressing well

Argentina's defence has been outstanding. Algeria got zero shots on target. Austria got one. That's world class defending
