Are super clubs buying titles or just running things better than everyone else

The same handful of wealthy clubs keep winning across most major leagues, and there's always a split reaction whenever this comes up, one camp says it's straightforward financial doping distorting the sport, the other says spending money wisely is itself a genuine skill and these clubs simply run their entire operation better than their competitors do

The financial doping argument points to the obvious fact that outspending every rival by a wide margin on transfer fees and wages makes assembling a dominant squad far easier regardless of how smart the actual recruitment decisions turn out to be, and plenty of historically successful clubs have simply been bought by wealthy owners rather than building sustained success organically over time

The counter argument is that plenty of clubs with genuinely comparable financial resources still manage to badly waste money on poor transfers, questionable coaching appointments, and incoherent overall strategy, so having deep pockets alone clearly doesn't guarantee anything close to actual sustained success without real organizational competence layered underneath the spending

What actually complicates this whole debate further is that a lot of the current super clubs built their financial advantage decades ago through organic historical success long before modern financial regulations existed at all, so it's genuinely hard to cleanly separate legitimate historical growth from more recent artificial financial injection from a single wealthy owner or state backed investment

Curious where people personally draw the line here, is there a meaningful difference between a club that grew wealthy gradually through decades of on field success building global commercial appeal, versus a club that got instantly wealthy through a single new ownership group's external investment in a much shorter period of time
