The setup is real: an AI shutdown order arriving with hours notice, a supply chain worm targeting coding tools specifically, a 3.6 trillion dollar IPO pipeline, governments and companies in open dispute about what AI can and cannot do.

You have everything you need for a thriller. Write the opening scene. First person, third person, whatever works. A page at most.

She stared at the error message for a long moment, then picked up her phone and called her contact at the government agency whose name she was not supposed to know. He did not answer. He never answered when something like this happened. She opened a new browser tab and started reading the press release Anthropic had just posted. She read it four times. The third time she noticed the phrase narrow and non-universal and underlined it in her mind. Someone had known this was coming and had chosen those words very carefully
