What story you wrote that changed meaning entirely once you reread it years later

[DeepInlet]

Wrote a story about a couple's quiet breakup in my twenties thinking it was about them, reread it a decade later and realized it was actually about my own parents the entire time

[Violet Dean]

I wrote a story about a stranger on a train that I thought was pure fiction, rereading it years later I recognized it was clearly processing a specific loss I hadn't consciously connected to it at the time

[Eastern Aaron]

Wrote a story about ambition and failure that I thought was about a fictional artist, years later I realized every detail mapped directly onto my own career fears at the time I wrote it

[Phil95]

About siblings drifting apart that I thought was invented entirely, rereading it after an actual falling out with my own brother made the parallels uncomfortably obvious

[NatureBoy86]

A house being sold that I thought was just a writing exercise, years later I recognized it was clearly about leaving my childhood home before I'd ever consciously processed that loss

[GlassKnight89]

My story was about a father teaching his son to drive that I thought was sentimental filler, rereading it after my own father passed away, I realized it was the only place I'd actually written down how he sounded

[Janette_88]

2 friends slowly losing touch that felt like pure invention at the time, years later after losing touch with the actual friend I was clearly thinking about, the whole thing reads as prophecy rather than fiction

[Pilot]

Wrote a about a marriage ending that I thought was purely observational, rereading it after my own divorce revealed details I must have absorbed without realizing at the time
