Endings are one of the cleanest short story discussion topics because almost every reader has a strong preference. Some want closure, some want ambiguity, and some want a final twist that changes how the whole story reads

That makes it a good board prompt because people can argue from taste without needing a formal literary background. It also encourages examples of what worked and what felt cheap

The real question is whether a story lands harder when it resolves neatly or when it leaves one important thing unsaid
