What Do You Think Happens in AI and Quantum Next Week

It has been a genuinely extraordinary week. The US government shut down Fable and Mythos with hours notice, SpaceX IPO'd and closed up 25 percent on day one, Anthropic filed an S-1, OpenAI filed an S-1, Anthropic overtook OpenAI in US business adoption for the first time, the Miasma worm hit 73 Microsoft GitHub repos specifically targeting AI coding tools, and cryptographers published a major disagreement about what quantum computers actually mean for Bitcoin's future. That is a lot to digest. Some of it will have knock-on effects next week and some of it opens questions that the industry is going to have to answer.

A few things seem ripe for developments: Will Anthropic get any clarity from the US government on what exactly the Fable jailbreak involved and whether a fix could reinstate access. Will the SpaceX IPO momentum carry through to the broader market or is this a one-day pop. Will any other AI company announce IPO plans while the window is clearly open. On the quantum side, independent physicists are now going to start working through the Majorana 2 technical paper and the first proper responses should appear within days. And the Miasma worm campaign has not necessarily stopped. The TeamPCP group behind it has hit npm, PyPI and now GitHub directly. Where do they go next.

I am watching whether Anthropic gets any communication from the government about a path to reinstating Fable. Right now they are complying blind with no specific information about what the problem actually is
