Neutral atom quantum computing company Pasqal and Saudi computational intelligence firm True Nexus announced they've successfully encoded protein structures related to gelation, the molecular process that turns liquids into gels and gives foods their texture, onto Pasqal's neutral atom quantum processors. The work, supported by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, aims to computationally design protein functionality rather than relying on the slow, costly trial and error methods that have dominated protein engineering for decades

True Nexus CEO Dominik Grabinski said the collaboration marks the moment protein functionality stops being a mystery and starts becoming genuinely designable, combining AI driven protein intelligence with Pasqal's neutral atom hardware to understand, predict and eventually design how proteins behave. The companies note that despite twenty years of effort and billions of dollars invested, plant based proteins still haven't consistently matched animal proteins across key functional properties like gelling, binding and foaming, largely because that deeper behavioral chemistry has resisted computational modeling even though sequencing a protein's genetic code is comparatively straightforward

The partnership, which builds on an earlier April 2026 agreement, is working toward a fully vectorized, dynamic 3D model of protein gelation that integrates protein extraction parameters, molecular structure, processing conditions and end use requirements.
