QDay is the point where quantum computers could start breaking a lot of the public key encryption that modern systems depend on

What makes this topic interesting is that it is not just a future tech problem. It affects how we think about banking, software updates, identity systems, and anything else that depends on long term security

My opinion is that people talk about QDay like it is still far away, but migration to safer methods takes time and planning, so waiting too long could be the real mistake

The question I keep coming back to is whether the biggest risk is the quantum computers themselves or the slow response from organizations that already know the transition is coming

I think this is one of those tech shifts where the technical side is only half the story, because the operational side may decide who gets hurt first

I agree, the migration problem seems more immediate than the actual quantum threat.

Do you think most companies even understand how much of their current security stack depends on public key crypto?

This feels like one of those issues that will only get serious attention after the first major scare.

What industries do you think are most exposed right now?
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I wonder whether post quantum standards are moving fast enough to matter.

Is QDay a real deadline or more of a warning concept?

Banks and governments probably have the most to lose here, but maybe smaller companies are even less prepared.

How much of this is actually practical planning versus hype?
