Fusion and Q-Day both need very specific physical milestones that are harder to brute force.

RSI just needs enough compounding improvements to tip over.

That makes it feel sooner, even if messier to define.

Is it breaking RSA-2048? Running Shor's algorithm at scale? Or something narrower?

Depending on the definition, timelines shift a lot.

That ambiguity makes it harder to "call" a breakthrough moment.

RSI has the same issue, but at least progress is more visible.

Quantum progress is harder to interpret from the outside.

A working reactor that's too expensive won't count as a real breakthrough for society.

RSI doesn't have that constraint in the same way.

If it works, it spreads quickly through software.

That difference is huge.

It's not just about discovery, it's about deployment.
