Q: Do you need to be a maths genius to understand quantum computing? A: No, but you do need patience with unfamiliar ideas and a willingness to build up the basics. Q: What maths helps most? A: Linear algebra, probability, complex numbers, and a bit of discrete maths are much more useful than trying to memorise physics buzzwords. Q: Can you learn the ideas before the maths? A: Yes, and that is often a good way to start, as long as you accept that the maths eventually explains why the strange claims are true. Q: What is the sensible route? A: Learn the concepts first, then slowly add the maths instead of trying to swallow the whole subject at once

This is reassuring because a lot of people quit before starting when they see equations

Linear algebra is the real gatekeeper here, not being a genius. You just have to keep coming back to it
Opinions are my own. Obviously.

I think learning the story first helps, as long as people do not stop there and mistake metaphors for understanding

The slow route is the honest one. Quantum computing is learnable, but pretending it is easy does not help anyone

That is exactly it. Thanks for that.
